The first Buxton office was established by the company's founder John Robert Buxton in South Melbourne in 1861.
Since then, Buxton has expanded to become one of Melbourne's premier real estate groups, with a network of offices across many key inner-suburban and bayside locations, including Greater Geelong and Regional Victoria. We have established a proud reputation for our reliability, integrity and our ability to achieve the highest prices for our sellers and landlords.
Buxton attracts and retains the best people in the business – talented negotiators, who do business with heart and purpose. We support them with a business environment and proven systems that give them a decisive edge over others. Buxton’s systematic sales, marketing and business training instils our people with high levels of expertise, so vital in marketing, auctioneering and sales negotiation.
Our advanced technology equips us with the most extensive and up-to-date database of buyers, while our b >alert system keeps property hunters up to date (via SMS or e-mail) with sales and rental properties, results, market updates and much more. Our sophisticated website includes an array of useful tools and information to support and guide our clients through their important property transactions.
When you appoint Buxton to sell or lease your property, it will be pitched to stand out from the crowd through eye-catching, high-impact marketing. We use cutting-edge buyer-matching technology, professional copywriting, multi-faceted internet promotion, video, prestige brochures, our weekly magazine, floor plans and premium photography to showcase properties in the best possible manner.
We are constantly seeking out new and innovative ways to ensure that dealing with Buxton is a pleasurable and rewarding experience, and have led the way in Melbourne real estate with some important innovations. For example, we were the first – and are still the only – estate agency group to provide an independent valuation report to sellers, to ensure they enjoy total price peace of mind.
As one of the leading agencies in Melbourne, we sell and lease thousands of properties every year, working to realise the full potential for our clients in every transaction. Our demonstrable record of success over many years means you can be confident with Buxton.
Unrivalled Local Knowledge
Buxton is committed to providing vendors and buyers with accurate and useful market information. In addition to our own extensive resources, we also work with Property Analytics, an independent, specialist real estate data analytics company, to continually examine trends across Melbourne and within local neighbourhoods.
We are proud to have established and maintained literally thousands of enduring client relationships based on integrity, trust, care and respect. In a recent independently compiled survey of Buxton sellers, 99% of respondents said they were delighted with our service (we’re working hard to delight the other 1%!).

Buxton is one of a small number of Gold Partners of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) Australia wide.
Buxton’s ongoing partnership with the NBCF represents the most significant charitable alignment in our 151-year history, generating community awareness and substantial funds for NBCF research.
All Buxton offices have committed to a significant annual donation to the cause, and have been working proactively with their teams to promote the NBCF. Buxton is very proud that its sponsorship helps to increase awareness of breast cancer at a community level and create a meaningful contribution of funds to aid research.
How Buxton supports the NBCF
Buxton has embraced the NBCF alliance, via an array of educational, awareness-raising and fundraising initiatives that include:
- Donating $195,000 every three years to the NBCF
- Participating in the NBCF Mother’s Day Classic Run/Walk annually since 2008
- Running Pink Cup Cake stalls at our offices during Breast Cancer Awareness Week, to raise further funds and distributing co-branded NBCF Fact Sheets
- Wearing the NBCF lapel badge at all times (and some auctioneers donning pink suits for their auctions during Breast Cancer Awareness Week)
- Ensuring many marketing materials are co-branded with the NBCF Gold Partner logo wherever possible, including boards, window displays, property brochures, email signatures, b>alert property notifications, print and electronic newsletters, and more
- Conducting an annual awareness campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month – via pink ‘sold’ and ‘leased’ stickers, and a pink NBCF theme on the cover of Buxton’s popular weekly b> property magazine for four weeks
- Raising awareness with our clients, and promoting the alliance via our widely distributed company newsletter, as well as on billboards, and via a number of large display advertisements in The Sunday Age newspaper, and via editorial coverage in a range of local and metro news titles
- Establishing a dedicated NBCF/Buxton committee to drive fundraising and promotional activity for the cause.
And while Buxton has become actively involved in other NBCF activities – and initiated a number its own – the most important contribution is made through Buxton’s positive promotion of the cause via the contact staff members have with hundreds of people every day.
How can you support NBCF through Buxton?
By choosing Buxton to sell or manage your property, you will be supporting a company that has made a significant and ongoing contribution to the NBCF.
If you’d like to find out more about our NBCF alliance, please contact us. For more information on breast cancer, please go to the NBCF website at nbcf.org.au
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Australia
One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime
It was predicted that in 2012, 14,610 women will have been diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia.
It is projected that by 2020, 17,210 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Australia. This is an average of 47 women every day.
Increasing age is one of the strongest risk factors for developing breast cancer. More than two in three cases of breast cancer occur in women aged between 40 and 69 years.
Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer have an 89% chance of surviving 5 years after diagnosis.
Improvements in survival are attributed to earlier detection of breast cancer through regular mammograms and improved treatment outcomes for breast cancer.
On average, seven women die from breast cancer every day in Australia. Finding breast cancer early increases the chance of surviving the disease.
Although rare, breast cancer can also affect men. 113 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. This is approximately 1% of all breast cancer cases.
One in 688 men will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
